💌 okay so like. words are hard but. something about how mari’s pigtails are worn low, sort of a casual hairstyle that’s worn for comfort and convenience, it looks neat but it’s easy to do in the morning, while ladybug wears low double buns, hair out of her eyes entirely, safety first! it can’t be grabbed or caught during a fight and stays out of her way while lucky red girl/fakeybug has high, long pigtails, curated for that cutesy look, her hair is also noticeably fuller than mari’s or ladybug’s, bouncy and anime like. something about pulling pigtails. something about infantilization. something about the male gaze.

💌 I have to say I LOVE the way you can convey yourself and your viewpoints through your art. I love how you tackle things like the political complexities of a capital city quarantining, the realistic differences between la terreur’s basis in reality for teens and miraculous’s glamorization of it. I love seeing the thought processes behind each comic as well, like the whitewashing of ladybug being connected to incel behavior and the processes behind why the GG models of teen femininity to capitalism but also represent the shitty lives they live in exchange for fame. I think your world comes together in such a poetic and thought-provoking way and it makes me wish that my stories could tackle such modern problems with the same cynicism and critiques, but alas, I love me some small villages plagued by magic and royal corruption. Anyway you (and those who help with the project I should add) are really cool!!

💌 i’ve thought about it and decided that ‘the ruler’ can actually be fixed if we drag the anciels down to the same level. like. they love and support their son unequivocally but they are also subconsciously, very casually, antisemitic in ways that go over marc’s head entirely but nathaniel obviously clocks immediately. their vibe reads as 'culturally appropriating hippies’ to me. marc introduces nath like “this is my boyfriend he’s jewish” and they both go oh we LOVE The Jews (because weirdly enough that’s a standard cultural christian response to finding out someone is jewish)!! his dad is an admirer of aleister crowley. the mom has a l'chaim pendant (hebrew term used by jews as a symbol of our people & resilience) but she has no idea what it is only that it’s Pretty and Exotic. they suggest picking up jewish traditions themselves as a way to “bond” with nathaniel (another weird but common cultural christian thing) and he barely resists the urge to kill them with hammers
